Skincare and beauty is what I write about and since summer is here and to me the heat is a nightmare, I picked summer skin care tips as my topic for today. It is important to take care of your skin in this harsh summer and here are some things you can do to keep your skin healthy and glowing this summer.
Exfoliating helps in the removal of the dead skin cells from your skin and help in good blood circulation which in turn will help in keeping your skin healthy.
Tip: we recommend you to exfoliate your face and body 2-3 times in a week. While it’s important to exfoliate it is also important not to strip the natural oils of your skin.
Toning is one of the most important steps in any skin care (CTM). It removes all the extra dirt from your face even after using a cleanser. Toning also helps to tighten your pores, maintaining the pH level of the skin, controlling the excess oil and keeping your skin clean and clear.
Tip: make your own simple all natural green tea toner at home. Steep in some green tea leaves in water or use a dip (the regular process of making green teaJ) and let it cool down. Once this is done, pour it into a bottle and use it like a regular toner. You can use this for 3 days when you refrigerate it!
- Sunscreen Lotion:
You should never ever ever skip on applying sunscreen lotion. It is mandatory. Apply a sunscreen to your face, hands and legs (to all the exposed parts of your body). No matter what skin type you have, you will definitely find a sunscreen that would suit your skin type.
Tip: apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before stepping out in the sun.
- Face Mists:
Keep a face mist handy to refresh your skin instantly any time of the day!
Tip: you can use rose water any time of the day to refresh your face. You can also make your own face mist; all you would need is to put a few drops of lavender oil in water and pour it in a spray bottle.
- Make H2O Your Friend:
It is important to keep yourself hydrated and so you gotta keep sipping on that water throughout the day!
Tip: you can put some mint leaves and lemon slices in water. Not only is this great detox water but will also keep your system cool!
- Post Sun Treatment:
The effects of the harsh sun can be really bad. We suggest you to apply aloe vera gel on the exposed parts of the skin post the sun. This will help in cooling down the skin.
- De-Tan Face Mask:
A good de-tan mask once a week will always help in keeping the tanning in control.
Tip: you can make your own de-tan mask at home. Take some tomato paste and mix some lemon juice, turmeric and gram flour/chickpea flour and apply that to your face, hands and legs.
- Say a Bye to Foundations:
Foundations can be too heavy to use in summers so try replacing your foundation with a good BB cream or CC cream.
- Removal of Makeup: make sure to remove your makeup every night before you go to sleep. Not removing your makeup will lead to clogging of your pores resulting in breakout.
Tip: you can make your own makeup remover at home! All you need to do is mix 2 parts of coconut oil and 4 parts of baby oil and use this as you would a regular makeup remover.
- Last But Not the Least:
We generally don’t pay attention to this but make sure you use a lip balm with SPF in it. You don’t really want to leave out taking care of your lips!
